The Committee of the Lymington River Scow Class Association met on Tuesday 23 June 2020 and decided, with regret, that the 2020 LRSCA Championships, originally scheduled for 8-9 August at Keyhaven and re-scheduled for Lymington on 22-23 August, could not be run in any of the three possible locations (Beaulieu, Lymington or Keyhaven) this year. Although physical distancing rules during the Corona virus crisis have been relaxed, the ‘Rule of Six’ and the 1m distancing rule make it impossible to run our Championships in any way approaching the model of previous years.
On the brighter side, the Committee will work to adapt the Travellers’ Trophy series this year to encourage some competitive sailing in all three locations. We propose to use the booked dates for Lymington for the first in the series to be held at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club on Sunday 23 August; for the second in the series to be held at the Beaulieu River Sailing Club on Saturday 5 September; and for the last in the series to be held at Keyhaven Yacht Club on Sunday 20 September 2020. These dates are provisional and subject to restrictions being lifted sufficiently to allow racing to be held in a viable form.
We do hope to see as many boats as possible enjoy these events in whatever conditions apply at the time of these races.
Further details will follow.
